The world is split up into 6 main regions, the area shown in the demo is the first region of the full-game and acts as the tutorial region of sorts! Once you leave this region the game opens up, allowing you to explore multiple areas at your own pace, in any order you see fit.
Mushrooms will not grow outside their general environment, so you'll need to have access to each of these locations in case they appear.
You don't see too much of this in the demo but there’ll be a lot more aesthetic control too outside the frog ‘decor’ items like the spas and the arches - flooring, decoration, ability to plant and move conterraneo resources etc
Rift Breach was a small game made in 3 weeks as part of a personal game jam by Ell. Taking inspiration from roguelikes, dungeon crawlers, and metroidvanias, they wanted to experiment with having the player themselves decide the layout of the dungeon, and how that would effect 'keys' being a resource.
In addition to the location around the map, you'll also need to pay close attention to the heat and moisture in the air at any given time, since this is where mushrooms can get tricky to pin down.
You awaken from your hibernation to find your pond abandoned and empty. Through a combination of crafting minigames, menu management and puzzle solving, experiment with genetics to breed new frogs and recover what was lost.
Mushrooms are the key component to changing the traits of the frogs you're breeding as Mudborne Game you pass through generations by way of the magic muds you include in the nursery with the frogspawn eggs, so if you need to change a specific trait, be sure you've got the right kind of magic mud in as the tadpoles form. If not, you'll need to try again with a new bunch of frogborne eggs and a new batch of mud.

Like most things in Mudborne, you'll also need to pay attention to which realm a mushroom in the table below grows in, since the waking and dreaming worlds have their own mushroom variants, each of which have unique effects, so be sure to explore both realms in all conditions - you never know what you might find growing.

There are a couple ways to get mushrooms to spawn in Mudborne, but you'll need to understand where they grow first before you can try to force them to appear.
I introduce ancestry towards the end of the spawning pools - I didn’t want to have things too complex just for the demo/tutorial region, but in the full game there’ll be a lot more advanced frogs requiring some clever magic mud across several generations to form.
Keep in mind, though, that the placement of your composter is critical. Put your composter on the terrain where the mushroom you need grows, or you'll find yourself with a wealth of mushrooms you weren't trying to grow.
There’s other bits that I don’t want to spoil, but I think that should give you a good idea of what to expect!
